It's official: Walter Skinner is coming back. Mitch Pileggi has inked a deal to reprise his iconic role as FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner, which he originally played from the final episodes of the first season of X-Files through to the second feature film I Want To Believe, in Fox upcoming six episode limited series X-Files revival, sources have confirmed to TVWise.

TVWise can reveal that three key X-Files alums are presently being eyed to reprise their roles in the six episode event series. Those three cast members are none other than Robert Patrick (From Dusk Till Dawn), Annabeth Gish (The Bridge) and Mitch Pillegi (Sons Of Anarchy).

Late last week, TVWise broke the news that Fox was on the verge of handing an official green-light to a limited series revival of The X-Files, with series stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny on-board to reprise their roles. The network made that official today by formally greenlighting the project with a six episode order.

The X-Files revival is one step closer to becoming a reality. Fox is close to giving an official green-light to a limited series revival of their iconic science fiction series which aired between 1993 and 2002.
