AMC Renews ‘The Walking Dead’ For Seventh Season
AMC has handed out a seventh season renewal to ratings juggernaut The Walking Dead, the network announced on Friday. Sixteen episodes have been ordered for season seven, which is set to premiere next fall.
The Walking Dead is continuing to grow its audience here in the UK. Despite a dip in the ratings for the series in the United States, the sixth season premiere of the AMC zombie drama smashed ratings records for UK broadcaster FOX UK with an average overnight audience of 877 000 viewers. Additionally, the Chris Hardwick fronted Talking Dead got off to a strong start last night, pulling in an average overnight audience of 205K viewers.
FOX UK is bringing The Talking Dead to the UK. After trialling the series by airing a one-off special earlier this year, the Fox International Channels owned and operated channel has acquired the exclusive UK broadcast right to The Talking Dead in a deal with international distributor Entertainment One (eOne). As it does in the U.S., The Talking Dead will air behind new episodes of The Walking Dead this Autumn.
