Supergirl continues to fly high at CBS. The network has handed out a full-season order to the DC series starring Melissa Benoist, TVWise has learned. While CBS is calling this a "full-season" order, the pick-up is for seven episodes rather than nine, meaning Supergirl will now produce a twenty episode first season.

Sky1 has closed a deal with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution to acquire the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to CBS' upcoming DC series Supergirl, TVWise has learned. The series is expected to premiere on Sky1 this October, shortly after it debuts in the United States.

The Muppets was the first show from the upcoming 2015-2016 season to be acquired by a UK broadcaster, but what other shows will be coming to these shores by the end of next May? TVWise has pinned down four (when technically five) shows that are close to being snapped up by UK broadcasters. Said shows include NBC's Blindspot, starring Strike Back's Sullivan Stapleton; Showtime's Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti fronted Billions; USA Network's hacker drama Mr. Robot; and CBS' Supergirl, which was identified across the board as a target for a number of UK broadcasters ahead of the LA Screenings.

Meet the new Supergirl. CBS and Warner Bros Television have released two first look images of Melissa Benoist in costume as the titular character in Supergirl, their new take on the DC Comics character which landed at the network with a series commitment back in September and is widely tipped for a spot on CBS' 2015-2016 schedule.
