StarzPlay has secured the UK rights to Becoming Elizabeth, an eight episode period drama about the early life of England’s most iconic Queen, Elizabeth I. The eight episode series, which just landed a series order at Starz state-side, is expected to premiere in 2020. 
StarzPlay has released the trailer and key art for the second season of Vida, which is set to premiere on Thursday May 23rd. In the show’s expanded ten episode second season, Lyn and Emma begin the monumental task of rebuilding their mother’s business while navigating financial constraints, competing developers, and the growing anti-gentrification movement. Lyn and Emma must contemplate the relationships in their lives, including their own, and are forced to dig deep to unearth what their mother’s legacy means to them. 
Starz has confirmed that the upcoming fifth season of Outlander will consist of twelve episodes. That marks the shortest order yet for the show. Season one consisted of sixteen episodes, while seasons two through four had thirteen episodes. Production is now underway in Scotland. 
Killian Scott (Strike) and Sarah Greene (Penny Dreadful) have been set as the leads in Dublin Murders, BBC One's eight episode drama series which is based on the Dublin Murder Sqaud novels by Tana French. U.S. basic cable network TNT had originally been set to co-produce Dublin Murders alongside BBC One and RTÉ, but they are no longer involved and instead U.S. premium cable network Starz has boarded as the U.S. partner. TVWise has reached out to TNT for comment on their decision to exit the project. 
Save Me is crossing the pond. International distributor Sky Vision has sold the Lennie James and Suranne Jones fronted drama to Starz - the U.S. premium cable network behind such shows as Outlander and The White Princess. It will premiere state-side on September 6th. 
Starz is expanding their Philippa Gregory franchise. The U.S. premium cable network has ordered a third series - a follow up to both The White Queen and The White Princess - titled The Spanish Princess, which will tell the story of Catherine of Aragon. It will be based on Gregory's novels The Constant Princess and The King’s Curse. 
Starz's drama series Power has been handed and early sixth season renewal, just as production is wrapping on the ten episode fifth season. Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson will direct the season six premiere. More than a year after they originally boarded, and mere months before the series is set to premiere on BBC Two here in the UK, Starz has backed out as the U.S. co-producer of Stephen Poliakoff's lavish period drama Close To The Enemy.
