BBC One Renews ‘Shetland’ For Two More Seasons

BBC One has renewed their Douglas Henshall fronted drama series Shetland for two more seasons. The show's sixth and seventh seasons will each consist of six episodes. The new seasons were commissioned by the BBC's Controller of Drama Piers Wenger and the BBC's Director of Content Charlotte Moore.

Silverprint Pictures Options TV Rights To Ann Cleeves’ ‘The Long Call’

Silverprint Pictures is staying in the Ann Cleeves business. After producing two previous adaptations of the author's novels in the form of BBC drama Shetland and ITV's long-running Vera, the indie has optioned TV rights to The Long Call - the opening novel in a new series by Ann Cleeves. “I’m delighted that the team at Silverprint has optioned The Long Call", author Ann Cleeves said in a statement. "The adaptations of Vera and Shetland have captured the essence of my books, while making TV dramas that are hugely successful in their own right.”

ITV Renews ‘Vera’ For Tenth Season

Fresh off of picking up another season of Morse prequel Endeavour, ITV has also handed out a renewal to fellow Sunday night drama Vera. The Brenda Blethyn fronted crime drama will return to ITV with a four episode tenth season in 2020. “Along with the rest of the cast of Vera, I’m delighted to be embarking on series ten", Blethyn said. "The enthusiasm and warmth shown to Vera has been overwhelming and we can’t wait to get started. Newcastle here we come!”

ITV Orders Four-Part Family Drama ‘Flesh And Blood’ From Sarah Williams & Silverprint Pictures

ITV has given the green-light to Flesh And Blood, a four-part family drama from The Long Song scribe Sarah Williams and ITV Studios label Silverprint Pictures. Per ITV, this is no ordinary family drama, however, as someone in the family will be dead by the end of the series and the question of who dies and who is the killer is left lingering until the last moment.

ITV’s ‘Vera’ Renewed For Ninth Season

It's been something of an open secret that ITV had renewed their Brenda Blethyn fronted crime drama Vera for a ninth season (the broadcaster had not formally announced that past few recommissioning cycles). They made that official today, with the announcement that filming is underway on the new season. Four episodes have been ordered for season nine, matching the size of the order for all eight prior seasons.
