Acorn, RTÉ Order Irish Period Drama ‘Dead Still’

Acorn Media Enterprises - the UK based development division of U.S. streaming service Acorn TV - has teamed up with Irish broadcaster RTÉ to commission Dead Still, a six episode period drama from Deadpan Pictures, Murdoch Mysteries indie Shaftesbury and ZDF Enterprises.

‘Murdoch Mysteries’ Season 13 Adds Colm Feore & Claire Goose In Guest Roles

Colm Feore (The Umbrella Academy, House Of Cards) and Claire Goose (The Coroner, Casualty) have been tapped for guest starring roles on the thirteenth season of Murdoch Mysteries. There is no word on the nature of the characters they will be playing. Production on the show's eighteen-episode thirteenth season is now underway in Ontario, and is expected to wrap in November. Season 13 will air on CBC in Canada later this year and is expected to premiere on UKTV's Alibi channel in early 2020.

Shaftesbury Hires Former UKTV Exec Alexandra Finlay

Shaftesbury - the leading Canadian indie behind Frankie Drake Mysteries and Murdoch Mysteries - has hired former UKTV executive Alexandra Finlay to serve as their Senior Director for Creative and Co-Productions. She will based in London and will report to Shaftesbury's Chairman and CEO Christina Jennings.

UKTV’s Co-Productions ‘Frankie Drake Mysteries’ & ‘Murdoch Mysteries’ Renewed

Both of UKTV's Canadian co-productions are coming back. Canadian public broadcaster CBC today announced that they had handed out renewals to both Frankie Drake Mysteries and Murdoch Mysteries. Ten episodes have been ordered for the third season of Frankie Drake Mysteries, while Murdoch Mysteries season thirteen will consist of eighteen episodes. 

Universal TV Acquires Canadian Thriller ‘Departure’ Starring Archie Panjabi

Universal TV is adding another Canadian drama to their schedule. The NBCU owned and operated channel has acquired the UK rights conspiracy thriller Departure, starring Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife). The six episode series is set to air on Universal TV later this year.

Alan Davies Set For Guest Spot On UKTV’s Co-Production ‘Frankie Drake Mysteries’

Here's some cross-company synergy for UKTV. Alan Davies, who fronts As Yet Untitled on Dave, has landed a guest starring role on the second season of their co-production Frankie Drake Mysteries. The 1920s period drama launched on Alibi earlier this year and quickly proved to be a hit; improving the channel's slot-average by 210%. As a result of the strong ratings in both the UK and Canada, UKTV and CBC picked up a ten episode second season, which has now started filming.

UKTV’s Co-Production ‘Murdoch Mysteries’ Renewed For Season 12

Canadian period drama Murdoch Mysteries - which is co-produced by UKTV and airs on their Alibi channel - has been renewed for a twelfth season. Canadian public broadcaster CBC has commissioned 18 hour-long episodes. There will be no Christmas special for season twelve.
