DRG Lines Up Deals With ABC For ‘Doc Martin’ & ‘Plebs’
The latest season of Doc Martin is heading to Australia. International distributor DRG has licensed the show's ninth season, which just recently started airing the UK on ITV, to the ABC. Additionally, they have also sold the fifth season of ITV2's Plebs to the ABC in Australia and Comedy Central in New Zealand.
The fifth season of Plebs will premiere on ITV2 on Monday September 30th at 10pm with a double-bill, it has been announced.
ITV2 has released the trailer for the fifth season of Plebs, which is set to premiere next month. Created by Sam Leifer and Tom Basden, Plebs is set in Ancient Rome and follows three under achievers, all of whom are on a desperate quest to live the ‘when in Rome’ mantra to the full in the empire’s most exciting city. The comedy series is produced by Rise Films and stars Tom Rosenthal, Ryan Sampson, Tom Basden, Ellie Taylor, Maureen Lipman, Karl Theobald, Samantha Spiro and Danny Webb.
International distributor DRG has lined up a slew of international sales for a range of comedy titles including Detectorists, Peep Show, Plebs and Tracey Ullman's Show. Czech TV has acquired all nine seasons of Peep Show for a primetime comedy slot on ČT1. YLE in Finland has picked up all three seasons of Detectorists, while BBC First in the Middle East and North Africa has licensed the first two seasons of the BBC Four comedy.
ITV2 is returning to ancient Rome. The digi-net has renewed their comedy series Plebs for an eight episode fourth season, which is set to air in Spring 2018. Production on season four gets underway this week.
