Channel 5 and Acorn TV have ordered Dalgliesh, a new adaptation of the stories by P.D. James. Six episodes have been commissioned for the show's first season, which is expected to air in 2021. Bertie Carvel (The Pale Horse, Doctor Foster) is attached to star in the title role.

Sky One has handed out renewals to original series COBRA, Intelligence, and Brassic. COBRA and Intelligence will return for second seasons, while Brassic has been picked up for season three. COBRA and Intelligence have received six episode orders, while Brassic's order is for eight episodes.

ITV has released a first look image of David Tennant in character as serial killer Dennis Nilsen in their just announced three-part drama Des. The three-parter tells the story of Nilsen, who murdered boys and young men in his flat from 1978 to 1983. He was undetected for five years, and it was only when DCI Peter Jay was called to 23 Cranley Gardens on 9 February, 1983, to investigate human fragments of flesh and bone clogging the drains, that the police realised they had a serial killer on their hands.

ITV has ordered Des, a three-part drama about the arrest and trial of serial killer Dennis "Des" Nilsen. David Tennant (Broadchurch, Good Omens) is attached to star in the lead role as Des.

Emily Reid (Curfew, Belgravia), Emmett J. Scanlan (Peaky Blinders, The Fall), Catherine Walker (Shetland, Versailles) and Eleanor Methven (Little Women, Derry Girls) have been tapped to star in Channel 5's four-part drama The Deceived. The Deceived is described as having as "sinister narrative of lust, manipulation and betrayal". It follows English student Ophelia, who falls in love with her married lecturer, seeing in him all the answers to her needs.
