Channel 5 has acquired the UK rights to Sony Crackle's original drama series The Oath for their VOD service My5 after striking a deal with international distributor Sony Pictures Television. The acquisition was part of a two-series deal with Sony that, as TVWise previously reported, also gives My5 UK rights to Australian drama Bloom. The Oath is expected to premiere this spring.

Channel 5 has acquired the UK rights to Australian drama series Bloom for their VOD service My5. The six episode drama, which was commissioned by streaming service Stan, is distributed internationally by Sony Pictures Television.

My5 Inks First Foreign Language Deal For Israeli Content

My5 has inked their first foreign language deal. The Channel 5 owned VOD service has acquired four Israeli series after striking an agreement with HOT Telecommunication Systems - Israel’s largest multi-channel cable television company. The four Hebrew language series covered by this deal are: true-life drama Miguel, comedy drama Juda, family drama Mekimi and crime drama Sirens. They will all launch on My5 this spring and will subtitled in English.

Less than two years after they scrapped their 24 hour time-shift service (Channel 5+24) to launch a linear My5 service, Channel 5 is scrapping the My5 channel to launch 5PRIME. The new channel will launch as of January 16th. While My5 is being scraped as a channel, it will remain as an on-demand catch up and box set service across all major platforms.

My5Channel 5 is set to scrap their 24 hour time-shift service (Channel 5+24) and will launch My5, the brand of company's on-demand service, as a linear free-to-air channel in its place. As a free-to-air channel, My5 will serve as a supplement to Channel 5's on-demand service of the same name and will take content from the VOD portal, which houses content from Channel 5's portfolio of channels (Channel 5, 5Star, 5USA and Spike UK).
