BBC One Releases First Look Images For ‘A Suitable Boy’
BBC One has releases two first look images from their upcoming Vikram Seth adaptation A Suitable Boy. A Suitable Boy tells the story of spirited university student Lata; coming of age in North India in 1951 at the same time as the country is carving out its own identity as an independent nation and is about to go to the polls for its first democratic general election. Lata’s mother is determined to find her a husband – a suitable boy – but Lata, torn between family duty and the excitement of romance, embarks on her own, epic journey of love and self-discovery. 

Ishaan Khatter (Beyond the Clouds, Dhadak), Tabu (The Namesake, Life of Pi, Andhadhun) and Tanya Maniktala have been set to star in A Suitable Boy, BBC One's six episode adaptation of Vikram Seth’s classic novel. The series is filming at a number of locations across India including Lucknow and Maheshwar ahead of a 2020 premiere. 
BBC One and HBO has set the cast for their co-production Gentleman Jack, which is being toplined by Suranne Jones. Joining the cast of the eight episode drama series is Sophie Rundle (Bodyguard), Gemma Whelan (Game of Thrones), Timothy West (Bleak House), Gemma Jones (Bridget Jones’s Diary), Stephanie Cole (Still Open All Hours), Peter Davison (Doctor Who), Amelia Bullmore (Scott & Bailey), Vincent Franklin (Happy Valley) and Shaun Dooley (Broadchurch).
BBC One is re-teaming with Andrew Davies, who most recently penned the channel's six-part War & Peace event series, for an adaptation of Victor Hugo's Les Misérables, TVWise has learned.
