Emmett J. Scanlan (The Fall, Constantine) has joined the cast of ITV's 13 episode Beowulf adaptation, TVWise has learned. He will play Wulfing leader Skellan, an imposing and formidable leader who takes any steps necessary to bring about success for his clan in battle.

Safe HouseITV has picked up a second season of their "event series" Safe House starring Christopher Eccelston (Fortitude), Marsha Thomason (White Collar) and Paterson Joseph (Law & Order: UK). Four episodes have been ordered for season two, which is set to enter production in the Lake District in February 2016.

MaigretITV has released the first image of Rowan Atkinson in character as Inspector Maigret in ITV's upcoming series of TV movies based on the novel series Georges Simenon. The first such adaptation, Maigret Sets A Trap, is currently being shot on location in Budapest.

Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter), Aidan McArdle (Mr Selfridge), Shaun Dingwall (Death In Paradise), Lucy Cohu (Broadchurch), Leo Starr (Lewis), Rufus Wright (Doctors), Hugh Simon (The Mill), David Dawson (Ripper Street), Colin Mace (The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies) and Rebecca Night (Starlings) have been tapped for co-starring roles opposite Rowan Atkinson in Maigret Sets A Trap.

Rafe SpallRafe Spall (The Shadow Line, Sons Of Liberty) has been cast as the lead in ITV's one-off drama Harry Price: Ghost Hunter, which is based on Neil Spring’s novel The Ghost Hunters. He will play Harry Price, Britain’s most famous real life ghost hunter and sceptic. “I’m delighted to be portraying Harry Price for ITV", Spall said in a statement. "It’s a fantastic piece of history that has mass appeal and I can’t wait to start filming”.
