Showtime has officially pulled the trigger on a two-season pick-up for Homeland and renewed the CIA drama for a seventh and eighth season, TVWise has learned. Liev Schreiber fronted LA fixer drama Ray Donovan has also been renewed for a fifth season. 
Hill Harper (CSI: NY, Covert Affairs) and Patrick Sabongui (The Flash, The Art Of More) have been tapped for major recurring roles on the sixth season of Showtime's CIA drama Homeland, TVWise has learned. Harper will play the incoming president's chief of staff, while Sanongui is set as a CUNY law professor and advocate for the Muslim-American community.

Elizabeth Marvel has been set as Elizabeth Keane, the former US Senator for the state of New York who recently won the election and is waiting to be sworn in as the next President of the United States. The character is described as a natural politician who can be bright, charming, lively and blunt. 
Homeland, which has earned something of a reputation for being timely in mirroring real-life events every season, is setting their sights on the business of the presidency, or more specifically presidential transition, for its upcoming twelve episode sixth season. Showtime is sticking with two of their most critically acclaimed series. The premium cable network has handed out renewals to counter-terrorism drama Homeland and critical darling The Affair, TVWise has learned. Homeland will return for a sixth season, while The Affair will be back for its third season. 
The fifth season of Showtime's counter-terrorism drama Homeland will receive its UK premiere on Channel 4 on Sunday October 11th at 9pm, it has been announced. Struggling to reconcile her guilt and disillusionment with years of working on the front lines in the “war on terror,” Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, estranged from the CIA and working for a private security firm.
