Julian Fellowes’ Period Drama ‘The Gilded Age’ Moves To HBO
The Gilded Age is on the move. Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes' long-gestating period drama has landed at HBO with a ten episode series order, the premium cable network announced on Thursday. The project had been in the works at NBC since as far back as 2012 and ultimately earned a series order in early 2018 at the peacock, which was then under the reins of Bob Greenblatt. Notably, the show's move to HBO mirrors Greenblatt's recent move from NBC to HBO parent WarnerMedia. 
HBO is getting back into business with Armando Iannucci. The premium cable network to the Veep creator's latest effort Avenue 5, a space comedy that is being toplined by Hugh Laurie (Veep, House). The size of the order for the show's first season has not yet been set.
HBO has released the trailer for the second season of Big Little Lies, which is set to premiere state-side on Sunday June 9th. Sky Atlantic continues to hold UK rights to the show, but have not yet announced a UK premiere date for season two.
Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany has signed on for a starring role in HBO's Perry Mason. The limited series, which
HBO has renewed their dark comedy Barry for a third season. The pick-up comes less than two weeks after the show's second season debuted on the premium cable network. Sky Atlantic holds UK rights to Barry and launched the show's second season on April 3rd.
HBO has handed out a series order to Perry Mason, a limited series that explores the origins of the legendary defense attorney that was famously played by Raymond Burr in the 1950s, 1960s, 1980s and 1990s. The Americans star Matthew Rhys is attached to star in the title role.
HBO has released a short trailer for Deadwood: The Movie. The feature length film is set to premiere state-side on Friday May 31st at at 8/7c. While Sky Atlantic does hold the UK rights, they have yet to set a premiere date.
