UKTV Gold Channel Orders ‘The Cockfields’; Kim Cattrall, Joe Wilkinson, Sue Johnston & More To Star
UKTV's Gold channel has handed out a series order to The Cockfields, a three episode scripted comedy from David Earl & Joe Wilkinson. Kim Cattrall (Sex And The City), Joe Wilkinson (After Life), Diane Morgan (Motherland), Sue Johnston (The Royle Family), Bobby Ball (Not Going Out) and Nigel Havers (Murder On The Blackpool Express) are attached to star.
is shaping up to be a good year for UKTV. Year-to-date, the broadcaster's SOCI (share of commercial impacts) has hit 9.53%, up 3% compared to 2018. SOCI for the 16-34 demo also is showing strong growth, up 6% year-on-year to 6.74%. A key driving force behind the SOCI growth was the performance of UKTV's original series. Dave's Hypothetical, featuring James Acaster and Josh Widdicombe, launched with 1.2 million viewers - making it UKTV's top rated show of 2019.
UKTV's originals push is paying off. Last year, original commissions were amongst the top-rated programmes on six of the channels (Dave, W, Gold, Drama, Yesterday and Really) across the network and also drove growth for VOD service UKTV Play.
Gold has released the trailer for their Murder On The Blackpool Express sequel Death On The Tyne, which is set to premiere on Saturday December 15th at 9pm.
The missing Dad's Army episodes are being re-made. UKTV's Gold channel has announced plans to remake the missing episodes from the show's second season with an entirely new cast. The Lost Episodes will air on Gold to mark the 50th anniversary of their original broadcast on the BBC.
