Syfy UK has closed a deal with sister company NBCUniversal International Distribution to acquire the exclusive UK rights to Killjoys, TVWise has learned. Additionally, in a separate deal with CBS Studios International, the NBCU owned channel has also picked up the UK linear rights to the second and final season of Extant.
The Good Wife, NCIS: Los Angeles and Extant have firmly established themselves as ratings hits here in the UK, with the three series pulling in big ratings for their respective broadcasters. In addition, a wealth of other series distributed by CBSSI, such as NCIS, Scorpion and Elementary, also continue to draw big ratings in the UK.
Melina Kanakaredes has landed a recurring role on CBS' Halle Berry fronted Summer sci-fi drama Extant. She will appear in two episodes of the show's upcoming second season as Dorothy, a judge who also happens to be the estranged wife of bounty hunter JD Richter (new cast member Jeffrey Dean Morgan).
CBS is continuing to rebuild the cast of Extant. Lyndon Smith and Nacar Zadegan have been tapped to join the cast of the network's summer drama series starring Halle Berry for its upcoming second season. The duo will recur in a handful of episodes when the show returns to CBS this July.
