E4 Sets Premiere Date For ‘Search Party’

E4 has given the green-light to to Club Rep Wars, an eight episode series from Studio Lambert that follows two teams of wannabe club reps competing to win the chance to work a season on the party island of Zante. “Loads of Brits still dream of spending a hedonistic summer working the strip in the Mediterranean sun", said Studio Lambert's Creative Director Tim Harcourt. "The competition to land one of these jobs is so fierce, it makes sense to capture the fun of it for E4.”
Karl Warner, Co-Managing Director of Electric Ray, is exiting the Sony owned indie he co-founded to become the Controller of E4. Channel 4 announced the creation of the role last month at the same time they handed the channel a £10 million commissioning budget increase.
Channel 4 has set nine new shows for their 2019 slate. At an event where Channel 4 Chief Executive Alex Mahon and Director of Programmes Ian Katz updated the industry on their plans, the broadcaster announced a wealth of commissions that will sit on their 2019 slate. Leading the commissions is one-off drama Brexit, starring Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock), which explores the data driven campaign behind the referendum; Happy AF, a comedy staring Aisling Bea and Sharon Horgan; and over at E4, comedy Maxxx, starring O-T Fagbenle (Looking) about a formerly famous boyband star turned drug-shamed tabloid laughing stock.
E4 is adding a superhero series to their line-up. Channel 4's youth-skewing digi-net has secured the exclusive UK rights to Syfy's Superman prequel series Krypton after striking a deal with international distributor Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.
E4 has given the green-light to The Super Salon, a four-episode access documentary series that will explore one of Britain’s largest and most unusual salons. The Super Salon goes behind the scenes at the two-floor Sheffield superstructure, which is home to nearly 50 stylists, beauticians and barbers. The series will delve into the family run business, owned by Cherise and her brother Dan, and follows their hair-brained schemes to promote their business.
The Sex Testers is on the move. The All 4 short-form series has been picked up a full 6x60 series on Channel 4's youth-skewing E4. As part of the full series commission, the format is being widened and in addition to STI tests, The Sex Testers will combine all the practices of an NHS GUM clinic with those of a broader sexual advice service.
