‘Nashville’ Renewed For Sixth Season
Former ABC drama Nashville has been picked up for a sixth season at its new U.S. network CMT, TVWise has learned. The show's sixth season - its second on CMT - will consist of 16 episodes. CMT originally picked up the show for a 22 episode fifth season in June 2016, after prolonged talks between the network, ABC Studios, Lionsgate Television and U.S. SVOD partner Hulu to resurrect the music industry drama following ABC's decision to axe it several week prior.
The rumours were true: CMT is indeed bringing Nashville back from the dead. The cable network has picked up a full 22 episode fifth season of the former ABC drama, it was announced on Friday. Additionally, long-time SVOD partner Hulu has come on-board for season five and will stream new episodes the day after they air on CMT.
Nashville is on the verge of making a comeback. Series producer Lionsgate Television is deep in talks with country themed cable network CMT to bring the series back for a fifth season, TVWise has confirmed. A formal announcement is expected to be made tomorrow, during the CMT Awards.
