Laurie Holden Exits NBC’s ‘Chicago Fire’ Spin-Off ‘Chicago Med’
NBC's Chicago Med is losing one of its main cast members. Laurie Holden, whose long list of credits include The Walking Dead and Major Crimes, is exiting the Chicago Fire spin-off due to "family reasons". Her departure comes several months before the series is set to debut this November. She was one of the few members of the main cast who appeared in the back-door pilot, which aired as an episode of Chicago Fire's third season.
Hawaii Five-0 and Grimm alum Brian Tee has joined the cast of NBC's Chicago Fire spin-off Chicago Med as a series regular. Tee, who starred in Fox pilot Love Is A Four-Letter Word, will play a resident at the hospital who found his calling in medicine after several tours of duty as an Army medic.
NBC is continuing to build the cast of Chicago Med. Colin Donnell (Arrow) has joined the cast of the Chicago Fire spin-off as a series regular for its just picked up first season - which at present has an order for 13 episodes and is set to debut at midseason.
NBC is kicking things off a little early this year by handing out the first three series orders ahead of the Upfronts in a little over a week. The three projects to get the nod at the peacock are: Blind Spot from Arrow & The Flash executive producer Greg Berlanti; medical drama Heartbreaker; and Chicago Med, the latest entry in Dick Wolf's Chicago franchise, which already includes Chicago Fire and Chicago PD
