NBC is extending the run of Chicago Med. The newest entry in Dick Wolf's Chicago franchise has received an order for five additional episodes from the network, TVWise has learned. The first season of Chicago Med will now consist of eighteen episodes.

He will play Bert Goodwin, the husband of Gaffney Chicago Medical Center administrator Sharon (S. Epatha Merkerson).

Rachel DiPilloRachel DiPillo (Jane The Virgin) and Torrey DeVitto (The Vampire Diaries) have joined the cast of NBC's latest Chicago Fire spin-off Chicago Med as series regulars, TVWise has learned. DiPillo, who has also enjoyed stints on such shows as NCIS, Mad Men and Emily Owens, M.D., will play Dr. Sarah Reese, an emergency room intern who’s fresh out of medical school. While DeVitto has been cast as Dr. Lilly Manning, a pregnant ER physician. Her previous television credits include Pretty Little Liars, Army Wives, One Tree Hill and Beautiful People.
