2018 was a good year for the CBS UK channels. The portfolio of channels, which are owned by AMC Networks International and CBS Studios International, delivered a 2.7% share of commercial impacts - an all time high and 4% increase year-on-year.

The latest incarnation of the Star Trek franchise is not coming to the UK (at least for now). I've learned that Netflix UK has opted not to pick up Star Trek: Short Treks, a new four episode short-form off-shoot of Star Trek: Discovery. A representative for the streaming service confirmed that they will not be distributing the series, which launches state-side on October 4th.

Dick Wolf's newest drama is crossing the pond. Sky has acquired the exclusive UK rights to the Law & Order super-producer's new procedural FBI after striking a deal with international distributor CBS Studios International. No word yet on a premiere date or which Sky channel it will air on. Additionally, Sky has also extended their licensing agreements for Hawaii Five-0, Madam Secretary, Elementary and The Late Late Show With James Corden and Hawaii Five-0; picking up additional seasons of all four shows.

The CBS AMC UK Channels Partnership - the joint venture between AMC Networks International and CBS Studios International that is behind such channels as CBS Drama and CBS Action - has announced that they are launching VOD services Horror Bites and CBS Catchup Channels UK next month. Both services will be available on Freeview Play from December 6th and will offer catch up shows thirty days after broadcast. Horror Bites will provide said content from Horror Channel; while CBS Catchup Channels UK will provide content from CBS Reality, CBS Drama and CBS Action.

The Good Fight is staying put on More4. The Channel 4 owned and operated digi-net has picked up the UK rights to future seasons of the The Good Wife spin-off after agreeing a multi-year licensing deal extension with international distributor CBS Studios International. The show's third season is expected to launch on More4 in 2019.

E4 is adding two U.S. scripted series to their line-up. The Channel 4 owned and operated digi-net has acquired the Charmed reboot and comedy Happy Together, which counts none other than Harry Styles amongst its executive producers, after striking a deal with international distributor CBS Studios International.

After piloting the project (under its former titled Ball Street), Showtime has picked up 1980s Wall Street comedy Black Monday - starring Don Cheadle, Andrew Rannells and Regina Hall - to series with a ten episode order. Owing to the fact that Black Monday is set up as a co-pro with Sony Pictures Television, it is not immediately clear if it will be covered by Showtime's output deal with Sky or if SPT will be distributing it in the UK.

NCIS: New Orleans has a new UK home. FOX UK has secured first window rights to the NCIS spin-off in a deal with international distributor CBS Studios International. The agreement begins with season four, which will premiere on FOX UK on Friday July 20th at 9pm. The show's fifth season will then follow later in 2018.
