Cold Courage is coming to the UK. BritBox has secured the UK rights to the drama series starring John Simm after striking a deal with international distributor Lionsgate. The series will premiere on the streaming service on Thursday September 3rd.

BritBox is adding to their line up of UK scripted shows. The new streaming service has inked a deal with DRG for Channel 4's short-lived police comedy-drama Babylon, BBC Four comedy Detectorists, BBC One's Jenna Coleman drama The Cry and BBC One's Tracey Ullman's Show.

Father Brown is getting a spin-off. Britbox has ordered The Sister Boniface Mysteries, a ten episode drama revolving around the character of Sister Boniface who originally appeared in the first season of Father Brown. Lorna Watson is on-board to reprise her role as the sleuthing nun. It's worth noting that this has only been commissioned for the U.S. arm of BritBox and at present there is no UK broadcaster attached to the project. It is not immediately clear if BBC One, who commission and air parent series Father Brown, will look to acquire the spin-off.

Close to a year after plans for the launch were first revealed, streaming service BritBox has now fully launched in the UK. One of the service's few exclusive titles at launch is the final two episodes from Midsomer Murders season 20, which wont air on ITV for several months. It's USP is having the "the biggest collection of British box-sets available in one place". The subscription cost has been set at £5.99

After launching the streaming service state-side last year, the BBC and ITV have confirmed that they are in advanced talks to launch BritBox on this side of the pond. The announcement that the BBC and ITV are now "working on a formal legal agreement" for the streaming service caps off months of rumours that they were looking to launch a British rival to Netflix and Amazon.
