BBC Two Sets UK Premiere Date For ‘State Of The Union’

Nick Hornby's short-form comedy series State Of The Union will receive its UK premiere on BBC Two on Sunday September 8th at 10pm with a double-bill, it has been announced. The complete series will be available as a box-set on the iPlayer on the same day, following the linear broadcast of the first two episodes.

BBC Two has ordered Alma’s Not Normal - a half-hour comedy pilot written by and starring Sophie Willan, who won the BBC’s inaugural Caroline Aherne Bursary Award in 2018. Alma's Not Normal follows Boltonian wild-child, Alma Nuthall and her family of eccentric, unruly women. With no qualifications and a rebellious streak a mile wide, Alma decides to become an escort to support her dreams of becoming a star and leaving Bolton.

BBC Two has handed out a six episode series order to an as-yet untitled comedy series from Sara Pascoe (Sara Pascoe Live: LadsLadsLads, Travelling Blind, W1A). Per the BBC, the series will subvert the tradition sitcom format and blend eccentric characters, surreal moments and factual insight.
