BBC One Orders Thorpe Affair Drama ‘A Very English Scandal’, Hugh Grant To Star
The story of the downfall of Liberal leader Jeremy Thorpe is coming to the BBC. The corporation's flagship channel BBC One has given the green-light to A Very English Scandal, a three-part drama based on the book of the same name by John Preston which tells the true story of the Thorpe Affair. In his first role in a British television production in more than two decades, Hugh Grant (Four Weddings And A Funeral, About A Boy) has signed on to play the late Liberal leader. BBC One is rapidly expanding Our Girl. The PSB has revealed that the third season of the military drama, which they ordered last October, has received a bumper order of twelve episodes - one more than the number of episodes the show has produced up to this point (including the feature length pilot).
