BBC One Renews ‘The Split’ For Second Season

BBC One has renewed Abi Morgan's divorce lawyers drama The Split for a second season. The renewal announcement came immediately following last night's season one finale. “It’s a delight and a privilege to bring The Split back for series two and to submerge myself once more into the world of Noble, Hale and Defoe and the lives of Hannah and her sisters", Morgan said. "Thank you to the BBC and the enthusiasm of viewers and we look forward to seeing you in 2019.”

The Last Post pulled decent ratings for BBC One; attracting a consolidated audience of just under six million viewers.

‘Call The Midwife’ Adds Miriam Margolyes For 2018 Christmas Special

Miriam Margolyes (Warner Bros' Harry Potter film series) has signed on for a guest-starring role in Call The Midwife for this year's Christmas special. Production on the special and the eighth season is now underway. She will play Sister Mildred, a forthright and indefatigable sister from the Order. She arrives unexpectedly at Nonnatus House, her hands full with four Chinese orphans. Having fled China, the child refugees were found abandoned in Hong Kong and are being adopted in the UK as part of the World Refugee Project.

StudioCanal Sells BBC One’s ‘Trust Me’ To ARTE

International distributor StudioCanal has sold the first season of BBC One's psychological thriller Trust Me, starring Jodie Whitaker, to European broadcaster ARTE. Trust Me premiered on BBC One back in August 2017 to strong critical acclaim. It was also a hit with viewers and the series premiere managed an audience of 4.3 million viewers in its Thursday night time-slot. The BBC recently commissioned a second season, which will feature a new story and cast.

‘Still Open All Hours’ Renewed For Fifth Season At BBC One

BBC One has handed out a fifth season renewal to the Sir David Jason fronted comedy series Still Open All Hours. Seven episodes have been ordered for season five, with the first such episode serving as a Christmas special.
