Baby Cow Productions Hires Rupert Majendie For Comedy Development
Baby Cow Productions has hired Rupert Majendie to serve as their Head of Comedy Development. Majendie is an experienced producer whose numerous credits include Pls Like, Nick Helm's Heavy Entertainment and the recently renewed King Gary. 
Baby Cow Productions has optioned the TV rights to Miss Austen, Gill Hornby's novel about the Austen sisters. "I am delighted that Miss Austen is going to the brilliant team at Baby Cow, and excited to work with them as Cassandra moves from the page to the screen", Hornby said.
Channel 4 has has handed out a six episode series order to Chivalry, a comedy drama created by and starring Sarah Solemani and Steve Coogan that satirises the state of contemporary sexual politics, while asking if romance can survive in the post #MeToo era. Baby Cow Productions are producing.
After releasing a teaser trailer, BBC One has now dropped the full trailer for their upcoming Gavin & Stacey Christmas special.
Red Dwarf is returning to Dave. The UKTV channel has commissioned a feature-length special of the hit sci-fi comedy series to air in 2020. The special, which is set up at Baby Cow Productions, is being penned and directed by series co-creator Doug Naylor. Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Danny John-Jules and Robert Llewellyn are all on-board to reprise their roles as Lister, Rimmer, The Cat and Kryten. Richard Naylor is the producer. It will be filmed on location and at Pinewood in front of a live studio audience. Christine Langan is the executive producer.
BBC Two has handed out a six episode series order to The Witchfinder, a comedy series about a witchfinder and his suspect on a road-free road trip through an England gripped by civil war, famine and plague. Tim Key (Brassic) and Daisy May Cooper (This Country) are attached to star.
Gavin & Stacey is making a comeback. BBC One has ordered a one-off Christmas special of the hit comedy series from Ruth Jones and James Corden. It will be a key part of BBC One's 2019 Christmas schedule.
