The Infamous centers on two complicated men on a collision course: an ambitious reformed gangster poised to break out of South Central and the LAPD detective hell-bent on taking him down.

Several weeks after announcing plans to reboot iconic miniseries Roots, A+E Networks has found the first actor for the new take on the property, which will air simultaneous on A&E, History and Lifetime in 2016. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Hannibal star Laurence Fishburne has boarded the event series as a regular and will play Alex Haley, the author of the novel that the 1970s miniseries and this new reboot is based on.

A&E is committing to Bates Motel. The network has renewed the Psycho prequel series starring Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga for an additional two seasons. The total order is for 20 episodes, which will be evenly split across the show's fourth and fifth seasons. In addition, A&E has cancelled The Returned after one 10 episode season.
