Sky1 has closed a deal with CBS Studios International to acquire the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to CBS' upcoming 13 episode summer series Zoo, which is based on the James Patterson novel of the same name.
Syfy UK's latest acquisition Dark Matter opened big for the genre channel when it debuted on June 15th. The space-opera series from former Stargate writers/executive producers Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie kicked off its 10 episode freshman season with a consolidated audience of 370K viewers, way above the channel's 12 month slot average. (Across various replays, the total impact of the series premiere inches closer to 700K viewers). 
Lee Daniels has inked a multi-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television, the studio behind his hit Fox series Empire, which last season broke all previous records and established itself as the highest rated broadcast drama in seven years after it grew its audience every week it was on the air.
FX has found one of the three leads for their next drama pilot. Billy Magnussen (The Divide) has joined the cast of Snowfall, the network's drama project from award-winning filmmaker John Singleton which explores the crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles in the early 1980s. 
Kirk and Spock are staying put on the bridge of Enterprise. Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, who have been playing the two characters since JJ Abrams rebooted the Star Trek film series in 2009, have signed new deals with Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions which call for them to play the iconic characters in a potential fourth Trek film (should it get a greenlight from the studio).
