Channel 4 has given the green-light to Derry Girls, a six episode comedy series set in the 1990s in Derry, Northern Ireland in the run up to the ceasefire. The series explores the lives of ordinary people living under the spectre of the Troubles, all seen through the eyes of a local teenager.
After months of rumours, BBC One has officially pulled the trigger and renewed their hit comedy series Not Going Out for an eighth season. With the renewal, the series continues to be the BBC's longest running sitcom currently on-air.

BBC One is re-teaming with Line Of Duty creator Jed Mercurio for The Bodyguard, a six episode thriller which focusses on the Royalty and Specialist Protection Branch of the Metropolitan Police Service's Protection Command (US readers, think the UK's version of the U.S. Secret Service). 
Starz has picked up their sports comedy Survivor's Remorse for a ten episode fourth season, the network announced on Wednesday. The renewal comes more than half way through the show's third season and after it has posted sizeable ratings increases compared to last season; due in no small part to a time-slot change from Saturday to Sunday nights.
