Several months after introducing a third editorial pillar - namely for content that qualifies as "feel-good, entertaining propositions" - BBC Three has commissioned their first two series under the expanded remit. Makeover series Glow Up, which is at its heart a competition to look for the next big make-up star of tomorrow, and relationship series Couples On The Couch have both been picked up at the online channel. Glow Up has received an order for eight episodes, while six episodes have been ordered for Couples On The Couch.
ITV has released a trailer for their The Bletchley Circle spin-off The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco, which is set to premiere later this month.
History UK has poached first window rights to Seal Team Six drama series Six after striking a deal with sister company A+E Networks. Channel 5 previously held first window rights to the show and aired the first season earlier this year on their 5Spike channel. Representatives of Channel 5 did not immediately respond to TVWise's request for comment. The second season of Six will receive its UK premiere on History UK on Friday August 3rd at 9pm. Episodes will be repeated on Thursdays at midnight.
StarzPlay is adding another first run acquisition to their slate. The channel - which is available exclusively in the UK on Amazon Prime via Amazon Channels - has picked up UK rights to Audience network's Stephen King adaptation Mr. Mercedes after striking a deal with international distributor Sony Pictures Television. The show's first season is now available to StarzPlay subscribers as of today. Season two will premiere on Thursday August 23rd, less than 24 hours behind the U.S. broadcast on Audience.
Channel 5 is increasing the range of content they offer on My5. The broadcaster has struck content partnership deals with PBS America, Together, Little Dot Studios and BET for the VOD service. Additionally, they have extended their existing agreement with A+E Networks UK.
