ITV Renews Foyle’s War For Season Eight

ITV has renewed period drama Foyle’s War for another season, the show’s eighth. The channel has ordered three two hour episodes for season eight. Production is expected to begin in September and the new season will be broadcast in 2013. The drama series from Anthony Horowitz originally followed Detective Chief Superintendent Foyle, who investigated criminals taking advantage of the circumstances in the UK during World War Two. Season eight will be set during the early period after World War Two, where Foyle, now a senior intelligence officer, will focus his attention on the world of espionage as he gathers secret intelligence in support of Britain’s security, defence and the Government’s foreign and economic policies. Series 8 was commissioned for ITV by Drama Commissioning team Laura Mackie and Sally Haynes. Speaking of the renewal Laura Mackie said: “We’re delighted to be bringing back one of ITV’s most original and successful crime titles. Anthony has found a brilliant and inventive way to move Foyle into the post-war era.” Both Michael Kitchen and Honeysuckle Weeks have been confirmed to be returning for the new season. Further casting will be announced shortly. TVWise’s UK TV Scorecard has been updated with this new information
