In late January, USA Network ordered Political Animals, a six episode political drama series. It was (and still is) USA’s biggest straight-to-series production commitment and I’m told it was ordered in such a manner so as to capitalise on the political atmosphere which will be booming this summer, as the presidential campaign(s) kick into high gear.
The second season of Lisa Kudrow’s comedy series Web Therapy will premiere on Showtime on Monday July 2nd at 11/10c, it has been announced.
Entertainment One has signed a multi-territory home entertainment distribution deal with Kudos Film & Television and Shine International for their upcoming 8 part drama series Hunted, from former X-Files executive producer Frank Spotnitz. The deal gives eOne DVD, Bluray and digital distribution rights to the series outside of North America, where the series will be distributed by HBO Home Entertainment.
Universal Channel does have the UK broadcast rights to the second season of Canadian drama series King, TVWise has confirmed. I’m being told that the deal Universal inked with Beta film to acquire the series was for exclusive first run rights to both seasons of the show.
Syfy has released a trailer for the final season of Eureka, which is set to debut on Monday April 16th at 9/8c.

Sky Atlantic has announced that NBC’s musical drama series Smash will receive its UK premiere on the channel on Saturday April 21st at 9pm.
HBO has renewed its drama series Game of Thrones for a third season, it has been announced.
Fox has handed early renewals to Glee, New Girl and Raising Hope. All three series will be returning next season; Glee for its fourth season, New Girl for its second and Raising Hope for its third.
