Update: ABC Studios “Cautiously Optimistic” About Possible Body Of Proof Renewal

Update: Sources at ABC Studios (the production studio behind Body of Proof) now tell me that they are “cautiously optimistic” that the series will be renewed for a third season. In fact, while a renewal is still far from a slam dunk, I’m told that the series’ producers have already started having staffing meetings looking for new writers to join the series for next season. I’m also told that a decision on the future of Body of Proof could be reached as early as Wednesday.

BBC One has ordered a new drama series titled Mayday, from writers Ben Court and Caroline Ip. The BBC has ordered five episodes for the show’s first season, with production slated to commence in early May.

Showtime Renews The Borgias For Third Season

Showtime has renewed their period drama series The Borgias for a third season of ten episodes, it has been announced. Production is slated to commence on the show’s third season this summer in Budapest and Hungary.

The CW Renews 90210, Supernatural & The Vampire Diaries

The CW has renewed three of its drama series for next season. 90210 will return for its fifth season, Supernatural for its eighth and The Vampire Diaries for its fourth. The three renewals come as no surprise as all three shows are amongst the highest rated series currently airing on the network. Still in doubt is the futures of Nikita, Ringer, Gossip Girl, The Secret Circle and Hart of Dixie. I hear that odds are that Hart of Dixie and Gossip Girl will be back next year, Nikita’s chances are 50/50 and I’m now being told that Ringer is a goner. The network is expected to make a final decision on returning series, as well as which of their eight pilots will be picked up to series, by the time of their upfront presentation in New York City on Thursday May 17th.
