In what is the network’s largest ever amount of series orders, The CW has picked up its drama pilots Arrow, Beauty and the Beat, The Carrie Diaries, Cult and First Cut to series.
NBC has picked up comedy pilot Next Caller to series with a six episode order. I’m being told that the network is eyeing a mid-season launch for the series.
NBC has cancelled freshman series Are You There, Chelsea?, Awake, Bent, and Best Friends Forever. I have also learned that NBC has opted not to renew its licensing deal for the Sony Pictures Television/eOne produced The Firm, effectively cancelling the series.
ABC has renewed comedy series Happy Endings for a third season, with a 22 episode order.
NBC has handed renewals to comedy series The Office, Parks and Recreation, Up All Night and Whitney. The Office will return for its ninth season, Parks and Recreation for its fifth, Up All Night for its second and Whitney will also return for a second season. I hear that the orders for The Office and Parks and Recreation are for 22 episodes, while the orders for Up All Night and Whitney are for 13 episodes.
