Exclusive: Earlier this month, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment announced that the fourth season of Breaking Bad, which has never been broadcast on UK television, would be released on DVD on October 1st. At the time of that announcement, TVWise also reported that Sony was planning to make the show’s fourth season available on Netflix UK & Ireland in September. My sources have now told me that the fourth season of the AMC drama will receive its UK premiere on the streaming service on September 1st, when all 13 episodes will be made available to Netflix subscribers.

Exclusive: Back in June, as part of a deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution to pick up exclusive UK rights to the fourth season of Arrested Development, Netflix UK & Ireland snapped up the exclusive UK rights to all three seasons (32 episodes) of FX’s comedy series The League. I have just learned that all three seasons of The League will be available for streaming on Netflix UK & Ireland from September 15th.

Acquisitions Roundup: UK Broadcasters Renew Deals For ‘Blue Bloods’, ‘Bones’, ‘CSI’, ‘Flashpoint’ & More

Exclusive: Sky Atlantic has renewed its licensing deal with CBS Studios International and picked up the exclusive first run UK pay TV rights to the third season of the Tom Selleck fronted drama series Blue Bloods. The broadcaster has also renewed its deal with NBCUniversal International Television Distribution and acquired the rights to the second season of NBC’s musical drama series Smash. My sources also tell me that the channel, as part of an existing deal, has the rights to the sixth season of AMC’s Mad Men. And for those that have been asking: as part of the five year deal that BSkyB signed with HBO in 2010, Sky Atlantic continues to hold rights to all of HBO’s original programming (with a few exceptions such as True Blood and Eastbound & Down, where first run rights are held by FX UK). As such, Sky Atlantic has the rights to the new seasons of Game of Thrones, Enlightened, Treme, Veep, Boardwalk Empire & more.
