Acquisitions Roundup: Sky Living Renews Deal For ‘Unforgettable’, FX UK For ‘Falling Skies’, ‘Leverage’ & More

EXCLUSIVE: It’s been a busy day on the acquisitions front. More4 closed deals to acquire two of ABC’s drama series: Nashville & Scandal. While news coming out of MIPCOM is that UK broadcasters are close to finalising deals to acquire The CW’s Beauty and the Beast, ABC’s Last Resort and NBC’s Revolution. In addition to all of that, I have also been able to confirm with my sources that BSkyB has renewed its licensing deal with Sony Pictures Television and acquired the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to the second season of Unforgettable. The second season of Unforgettable is currently scheduled to premiere on Sky Living next summer. My sources are also telling me that, as part of previous deal, Sky Living has the rights to the third season of The CW’s Nikita and it is set to premiere on the channel in Spring 2013.

CBS Cancels ‘Made In Jersey’

And the first casualty of 2012 – 2013 season is CBS’ Friday night drama series Made In Jersey. The eye network has pulled the low rated drama from its Friday night 8pm time-slot, effective immediately. Taking Made In Jersey‘s place is unscipted series Undercover Boss, which will assume the 8pm Friday night time-slot from November 2nd.

MIPCOM 2012: UK Broadcasters Near Deals For ‘Last Resort’, ‘Revolution’ & ‘Beauty And The Beast’

EXCLUSIVE: Fresh off of news that Channel 4 has closed a deal with Lionsgate TV to acquire ABC’s drama series Nashville, it would appear as though three new US shows from the 2012 – 2013 TV season are heading to the UK. One of TVWise’s freelancers, who is on the ground in Cannes, tells me that they have confirmed with three distributors (Sony Pictures TV, Warner Bros. International Television Distribution & CBS Studios International) that they are close to signing deals with UK broadcasters for ABC’s Last Resort, NBC’s Revolution and The CW’s Beauty and the Beast.

Channel 4 has closed a deal with Lionsgate TV at MIPCOM 2012 to acquire the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to the ABC/Lionsgate drama series Nashville for its More4 channel. I’m also being told that the show’s first season will premiere on More 4 in early 2013.
