Channel 4 has announced that World Without End – the sequel to mini-series Pillars of the Earth – will premiere early next year. The 8 part mini has already aired on Showcase in Canada and ReelzChannel in the United States.
Fresh on the heels of ordering a new police drama series titled By Any Mean, BBC One has revealed a host of new commissions for 2013. The broadcaster has ordered four new dramas for next year, as well as expressing a continued commitment to continuing drama series including EastEnders, Holby, Casualty and Waterloo Road.
BBC One has renewed its drama series Inspector George Gently for a sixth season of four 90 minute episodes, which is set to air in 2013.
BBC Three has ordered a new black comedy series from Anger Management co-executive producer Bob Kushell. Way To Go has been given a six episode order and tells the story of three ordinary guys who find themselves forced into setting up an assisted-suicide business.
BBC One has given the green-light to a new police drama series titled By Any Means. Produced by Red Planet Pictures – the independent production company behind BBC One’s Death In Paradise – the hour long drama series has been given a six episode order and follows a covert police department that, when the legal system fails, go to any lengths to bring the criminal elite to justice.
ITV1 has announced that their two-part drama The Poison Tree will premiere on Monday December 10th at 9pm.
The fifth and final season of Canadian cop drama Flashpoint will receive its UK premiere on Universal Channel on Thursday December 6th at 6pm, TVWise has learned. Subsequent episodes will then air on weekdays in the 6pm time-slot. As with previous seasons, due to a naming faux pas (explained more fully here) the show’s fifth season is being billed by Universal as season 4.
ITV1’s three-part drama The Town will premiere on Wednesday December 5th at 9pm, it has been announced.
