It’s Official: BBC One’s ‘Merlin’ To End Its Run After Current Season

The rumors are true. BBC One has confirmed that the current season of their hit fantasy drama Merlin will be the show’s last. The show’s fifth season will wrap with a two-part finale which promises a “natural and dramatic end.” I hear that the decision to end the series with its fifth season on a “creative high” was made by the creators rather than executives at the BBC. The BBC now has the un-enviable task of finding a new family drama that can go head to head with ITV’s X-Factor in prime-time on Saturday nights, just as Merlin has successfully done since its inception in 2008.

Channel 5 Responds To Death Of Larry Hagman, Will Air Tribute Special

Following on from last night’s sad news of the death of Dallas star Larry Hagman, Channel 5 and company owner Richard Desmond have issued statements alongside those previously issued by Warner Bros. and TNT. Hagman’s death comes after he had filmed six episodes of the second season of Dallas (which will be aired by Channel 5 in 2013), with the producers of the series currently re-working the scripts of the remaining episodes to reflect the death of Hagman. In addition, Channel 5 has announced that they will air an exclusive 30 minute tribute in honor or Larry’s life tomorrow night at 9pm.
