USA Network has handed a ten-episode third season renewal to sophomore series Neccessary Roughness. The drama series, which is set to return to finish airing its sixteen episode second season on January 23rd, had been the only question mark for USA Network since the network cancelled Fairly Legal & Common Law and opted not to pursue a second season of its limited-series Political Animals.
As part of the network’s push to have more original content on offer over the summer period, NBC today announced the pick up of Camp, a new 13 episode dramedy series from Liz Heldens and Peter Elkoff, creator and executive producer of the networks upcoming series Deception.
Last November Syfy announced that Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome would premiere as a ten-part web series on the Machinima Prime Youtube channel, before the network would air the proposed pilot as a two-hour TV movie in February 2013. TVWise has since learned that the network will air Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome on Sunday February 10th at 9/8c.
The first season of Starz’s period drama series Da Vinci’s Demons will premiere on Friday April 12th at 10pm, before assuming its regular 9pm time-slot on Friday April 19th.
EXCLUSIVE: Following on from our recent scoop that Brenda Edwards and Joanne Matthews have been cast in BBC One’s upcoming six-part comedy series from Ben Elton titled The Wright Way (formerly known as Slings and Arrows), I have just learned that Kacey Ainsworth (EastEnders), Rufus Jones (Mongrels) & Australian actor Michael Falzon have all been cast in the comedy as series regulars. They join previously announced cast members David Haig (The Thin Blue Line) and Beattie Edmondson (Absolutely Fabulous).

EXCLUSIVE: I’ve learned that Brenda Edwards and Joanne Matthews have been cast as series regulars in Ben Elton’s upcoming BBC One comedy series The Wright Way (formerly known as Slings and Arrows). My sources tell me that both actresses have been with the project from the early stages and were part of the cast assembled for the not-for-broadcast pilot that was shot at Teddington Studios on August 4th. Edwards, perhaps best know as a former contestant on The X-Factor, has had a varied acting career on the West End which has included roles on Chicago, Carmen Jones and We Will Rock You (which was also penned by Ben Elton). Joanne Matthews has been cast as Susan, Gerald B. Meakin’s daughter. Her previous credits include appearances on Holby City, Cardinal Burns and Call The Midwife.
UKTV’s Watch channel has released a trailer for its upcoming science-fiction series Primeval: New World, which is set to receive its UK premiere on the channel on Tuesday January 8th at 9pm.
