It’s Official: Beattie Edmondson, Joanne Matthews, Brenda Edwards & More Cast In ‘The Wright Way’

Over the past two months TVWise broke the news that Dewi Humphreys would be returning to direct BBC One’s upcoming Ben Elton sitcom The Wright Way (formerly known as Slings and Arrows) and that Beattie Edmondson (Absolutely Fabulous), Brenda Edwards (The X-Factor), Joanne Matthews (Call The Midwife), Kacey Ainsworth (EastEnders), Rufus Jones (Mongrels), Luke Gell (Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps) and Australian actor Michael Falzon had joined the cast of the comedy as series regulars. BBC One confirmed all of that today while also announcing that Mina Anwar and Toby Longworth have also been cast in the comedy series which is currently in production in Manchester. LOVEFiLM Inks Content Deal With 4oD For ‘The Inbetweeners’, ‘Shameless’ & More

LOVEFiLM – the Amazon owned streaming service –  has inked a deal with Channel 4’s 4onDemand (4oD) that will give members of the streaming site on-demand access to episodes of such shows as The Inbetweeners, Shameless, Friday Night Dinner, Father Ted, Peep Show, Drop The Dead Donkey and The I.T. Crowd. This deal is the latest in a long line of content deals that LOVEFiLM has struck in recent months. The streaming service has previously inked deals with DHX Media, Aardman, Miramax, Twentieth Century Fox, NBCUniversal, Sony Pictures Television, Warner Bros., ABC, BBC, Studiocanal and Entertainment One (eOne).

Luke Gell Joins BBC One’s Ben Elton Sitcom As Series Regular

EXCLUSIVE: I’ve learned that Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps alum Luke Gell has been cast as a series regular in BBC One’s upcoming sitcom The Wright Way (formerly known as Slings and Arrows). My sources tell me that Luke Gell has been attached to the project since last Summer and was part of the cast assembled for the not-for-broadcast pilot that was shot at Teddington Studios last August. Both BBC One and production company Phil McIntyre Television have yet to announce any cast members beyond series lead David Haig (The Thin Blue Line), however, TVWise previously broke the news that Beattie Edmondson (Absolutely Fabulous), Brenda Edwards (The X-Factor), Joanne Matthews (Call The Midwife), Kacey Ainsworth (EastEnders), Rufus Jones (Mongrels) and Australian actor Michael Falzon have all been cast in the comedy as series regulars.

Jeremy Webb To Helm ‘Our Men’ For Big Talk Productions & BBC Two

BBC TwoEXCLUSIVE: I’ve learned that British director Jeremy Webb has signed on to helm BBC Two’s upcoming dramedy series Our Men. I hear that he has been attached to the project since November. Webb’s most recent job was directing a handful of episodes of Downton Abbey season 3. The veteran drama director’s previous credits include Merlin, Doctor Who, Silk and Casualty.
