Netflix has announced that the 15 episode fourth season of Arrested Development will premiere worldwide on May 26th, 2013, when all episodes will be made immediately available to Netflix subscribers in North America, the UK, Ireland, Latin America, Brazil and the Nordic countries.
Canadian public broadcaster CBC has announced details of its prime time line-up for the 2013-2014 season. As part of that announcement the broadcaster confirmed that Murdoch Mysteries has been renewed for a seventh season, with a longer order of 18 episodes, as opposed to the 13 episode orders the series has received over its past six seasons. Murdoch Mysteries, which began its life on Canada’s CityTV before recently jumping to CBC, where it has been a ratings hit, has been co-produced by UKTV’s Alibi channel since season 1 and I am being that that they will again be co-producing this longer seventh season alongside Shaftesbury Films, CBC and ITV Studios Global Entertainment.
EXCLUSIVE: Fresh off of the news that ITV has commissioned a three part crime drama titled The Guilty from Hartswood Films, the drama has added three actors to its cast. Jay Simpson (Mrs Biggs), Milo Twomey (Doctors) and Pooky Quesnel (Starlings) are all set to appear in the serial, joining previously announced cast members Tamsin Greig (Episodes), Katherine Kelly (Mr Selfridge), Darren Boyd (Spy) and Jamie Sives (Secret State). According to my sources, Simpson has been cast as one of the police officers assigned to the investigation into the dissappearance of Callum Reid, while both Twomey and Quesnel are set to appear as residents from the neighbourhood. Production on The Guilty is currently underway, with filming scheduled to continue through May. I hear that ITV is eyeing an Autumn premiere.
As the corporation searches for a permanent replacement for departing drama executives Laura Mackies and Sally Haynes, ITV is adding a new crime drama to its line up. The commercial broadcaster has commissioned Sherlock producers Hartswood Films to produce a three-part drama serial titled The Guilty. The cast of the serial includes Tamsin Greig (Episodes), Katherine Kelly (Mr Selfridge), Darren Boyd (Spy) and Jamie Sives (Secret State).
ReelzChannel has closed a deal with Muse Distribution – the distribution arm of Canadian productions company Muse Entertainment, the production company behind Syfy’s Being Human – to acquire the exclusive U.S. broadcast rights to a documentary about the assassintion of President John F. Kennedy titled JFK: The Smoking Gun, originally commissioned by Australia’s SBS channel. The documentary is being shopped to international buyers at MIPTV.
Syfy has given the green-light to a new six episode reality series titled Exit, based on the Japanese series Dero. Exit joins a growing roster of reality series on the basic cable network, which includes Face Off, Ghost Hunters, Haunted Collector, Total Blackout, Paranormal Witness, Ghost Hunters & Deep South Paranormal and is set to premiere on Syfy on Tuesday June 4th at 10/9c
The first full season of ITV’s Morse prequel series Endeavour will premiere on Sunday April 14th at 8pm, it has been announced.
USA Network has revealed details of its summer line-up, including premiere dates for new drama series Graceland and returning series Burn Notice, Covert Affairs, Necessary Roughness, Royal Pains and Suits. The network also announced that the fifth season of White Collar will premiere this fall.
