Viva To Air NBC’s Comedy Series ‘Whitney’, Sets Premiere For April 22nd

MTV’s Viva channel has announced that they have picked up the rights to the first season of NBC’s comedy series Whitney and will start airing the series from Monday April 22nd at 10pm. The show’s first season has previously been broadcast in UK by Comedy Central, who continue to hold the first run rights to the series and will be airing the second season of Whitney later this year.

FX Picks Up ‘Saint George’ Sitcom With 10/90 Deal

In a deal similar to the one the network struck for Anger Management, FX has picked up a new comedy series from Lionsgate TV and Debmar-Mercury starring George Lopez. Per the terms of this deal, the series, titled Saint George, has been given an order for 10 episodes and assuming certain ratings criteria are met during the initial 10 episode run, a further order for 90 episodes will be triggered.

Netflix Closes Deal To Acquire US Rights To ‘The Fall’

Netflix has closed a deal with Content Film & Television to acquire the exclusive US broadcast rights to BBC Two’s upcoming drama series The Fall, TVWise has confirmed. The news, which was first reported by Broadcast, comes as Netflix is ramping up its offering of exclusive series through both acquired programming and originals, with its newest entry Hemlock Grove slated to premiere on the streaming service tomorrow. Word is that the The Fall will be made available on Netflix closely behind the series’ premiere on BBC Two this May.
