CBS Picks Up ‘Crazy Ones’, ‘Hostages’, ‘Intelligence’, ‘The Millers’, ‘Mom’ & ‘We Are Men’ To Series

CBS has just handed out it series orders for next season. All told the network has picked up 6 pilots; 2 drama, 4 comedy. Those pilots to get the nod are Crazy Ones, Hostages, Intelligence, The Millers (formerly known as Greg Garcia Project), Mom and We Are Men (formerly known as Untitled Rob Greenberg project). There is no official word on the fates of CSI: NY, Golden Boy, Rules of Engagement or Vegas, but none are expected to return.

UPDATE: NBC Cancels ‘Go On’, ‘The New Normal’ & ‘Smash’

UPDATE, 03:15 AM: And that’s it for NBC’s existing series (the network won’t decide on the fate of Hannibal until after the upfronts, when more ratings data is available). After renewing Community, the network just called time on The New Normal and Smash. Much like Go On, The New Normal had ok but not great ratings (and support at the network). Once NBC decided to cancel the better rated Go On, it was only a matter of time before The New Normal got the call. As for Smash, the series has been considered dead since it was moved to a Saturday night time-slot, the announcement from NBC was a mere formality.

TBS Picks Up Bill Lawrence/Greg Malins Comedy Pilot ‘Ground Floor’ To Series

TBS has picked up its comedy pilot from Cougar Town creator Bill Lawrence and Greg Malins titled Ground Floor to series. The comedy has been given an order for 10 episodes, with TBS eyeing a 2014 premiere. This will be the second of Lawrence’s shows to find a home on TBS. The network picked up Cougar Town after ABC passed on ordering a fourth season and just recently ordered a fifth season of the series.

Syfy’s ‘Defiance’ Renewed For Second Season

No surprises here. Syfy has just renewed its drama series Defiance for a second season of 13 episode. The show’s second season is set to enter production this August for a 2014 premiere, when it will return to Monday nights as part of Syfy’s Powerful Monday’s block.
