The CW Announces Fall Premiere Dates: Network Sticking To October Premieres

The CW is the third broadcast network (behind CBS and NBC) to announce premiere dates for its fall schedule. There were no real surprises in The CW’s announcement, with network choosing to stick with last year’s strategy of launching all of their series in October, and thereby avoiding the avalanche of premieres in mid-late September. Things kick off on October 7th with the premieres of Hart of Dixie & Beauty and the Beast and finishes with the premiere of The Carrie Diaries on October 25th.

Faye Marsay Joins ITV’s ‘The Bletchley Circle’

EXCLUSIVE: ITV’s period drama series The Bletchley Circle is adding another series regular to its roster for its upcoming second season. I’ve learned that young actress Faye Marsay has joined the series as a new lead, she joins Hattie Morahan (Eternal Law) who has also been added to the series as a regular for its 4 episode second season. Marsay, repped by Curtis Brown, is a relative newcomer with her only major TV credit being a leading role on the BBC One/Starz period drama The White Queen.

Zach Grenier has been upped to a series regular for the upcoming fifth season of CBS’ legal drama series The Good Wife. The promotion comes after he has recurred on the series for the past four years as Lockhart/Gardner’s lead divorce attorney David Lee. Grenier’s previous credits include 24, Deadwood and Zero Hour.

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) has appointed former NBC drama executive Lourdes Diaz as Vice President, Development and Production for Comedy Central International. Diaz will split her time between the US & the UK and will report to Jill Offman, Managing Director of Comedy Central UK and Senior Vice President of International Content for Comedy Central. In her new role, Diaz will focus on developing and commissioning scripted content for VIMN’s network of Comedy channels and websites outside the US, including Comedy Central UK.

Simon Hynd To Helm Gold’s First Original Sitcom ‘Us And Them’

EXCLUSIVE: UKTV and Hat Trick Productions have found the director for Gold’s first original scripted comedy series Us and Them. I’ve learned that Simon Hynd has signed on to direct the six episode series. Hynd, represented by Linda Seifert Management, has largely directed for kids TV on shows such as Half Moon Investigations, Dani’s House and M.I. High, but recently turned to comedy after directing three episodes of the BBC Four political comedy series Bob Servant Independent.
