EXCLUSIVE: BBC One’s three-part adaptation of the Daphne du Maurier nover Jamaica Inn has added another actress to its already large cast. Rhiannon Oliver (Torchwood) has joined the cast of the drama which is currently in production in Cornwall, Yorkshire and Cumbria Based on the classic Daphne du Maurier novel of the same name, Jamaica Inn is a three-part drama set in 1820 against the foreboding backdrop of windswept Cornish moors which follows the young Mary Yellan as she becomes entangled in a dangerous criminal world ridden with smuggling and murder, testing her resolve and morality to the very core. The adaptation was penned by Emma Frost (The White Queen). The drama is being produced by Origin Pictures and stars Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey), Matthew McNulty (The Paradise), Sean Harris (The Borgias), Ben Daniels (House of Cards), Joanne Whalley (The Borgias), Shirley Henderson (The Crimson Petal and The White) and Charles Furness (The Whale). Call The Midwife helmer Philipa Lowthorpe is attached to direct.
ABC Family has renewed freshman drama The Fosters for a second season, TVWise has learned.
On the heels of The CW’s The Originals, The Tomorrow People & Reign and Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine receiving script orders, two more freshman series have received orders for additional scripts.
Fox has cancelled a second series from the 2013-2014 season before it has even aired.
Bob Odenkirk (Breaking Bad), Oliver Platt (The West Wing), Allison Tolman (Sordid Lives), Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia), Peter Breitmayer (The Middle), Tom Musgrave (Beethoven’s 5th), Russell Harvard (There Will Be Blood) and Adam Goldberg (The Unusuals) have joined the cast of FX’s upcoming 10 episode limited series Fargo. They join previously announced cast members Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, Collin Hanks, Kate Walsh, Joey King and Josh Close.
