Fox Cancels ‘The Mindy Project’, Hulu Eyes Two Season Pick Up

The Mindy Project S3 (FT)The Mindy Project's time on Fox has come to an end. The network has cancelled the Universal Television produced comedy created by and starring The Office's Mindy Kaling after three seasons. That being said, Fox decision to cancel the comedy may not spell the end for The Mindy Project. Hulu is understood to be in talks with Universal Television to pick up The Mindy Project for a further two seasons, bringing it past the 100 episodes needed for syndication.

The CW Renews ‘iZombie’ For Second Season

iZombieThe CW has renewed freshman DC Comics drama iZombie for a 13 episode second season. The series joins The 100, Arrow, The Flash, Jane The Virgin, The Originals, Reign, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries and Beauty & The Beast - all of which have also been renewed for next season.

Katherine McNamara Set As Female Lead In ABC Family’s ‘Shadowhunters’

Katherine McNamaraABC Family has found their Clary Fray. Katherine McNamara (New Year's Eve) has been tapped to play the female lead in Shadowhunters, the 10 episode Mortal Instruments adaptation which landed at the network back in April with a straight-to-series order.

PlayStation Renews ‘Powers’ For Second Season

PowersPlayStation Network is officially committing to original series. The Sony owned platform has renewed their first original series Powers for a second season, which is set to debut in the United States in 2016. The pick up is for a further 10 episodes, matching the size of the order for the first season.

Chiller Moves Into Originals With Anthology Series ‘Slasher’

Chiller - LogoChiller is the latest network to officially get in on the scripted original series game. Syfy's sister network has picked up anthology entry Slasher from Murdoch Mysteries indie Shaftesbury Films as their first ever original series. Production begins this Summer in Sudbury for a late 2015 premiere.

Fox Renews ‘The Simpsons’ For Two More Seasons

The SimpsonsThe Simpsons are not going anywhere. Fox has renewed the long-running animated comedy for a further two seasons, the show's twenty-seventh and twenty-eighth. The two-season pick up, which will keep The Simpsons on air through at least the 2016-2017 season, ensures that some 625 episodes will have been produced by the end of season 28.
