TBS Picks Up Dark Comedy ‘Search Party’ Starring Alia Shawkat

TBS has handed out a series order to Search Party, a dark comedy starring Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development) which tells the story of a group of four self-absorbed 20-somethings who come together when a former college acquaintance mysteriously disappears.

Syfy Acquires Female ‘Van Helsing’ Series For 2016 Schedule

Syfy is continuing to bulk up on drama for their 2016 line-up. The NBCU backed cable channel has inked a deal with Fallout Asylum and Dynamic Television to acquire the exclusive U.S. television rights to Van Helsing, the 13 episode drama series from Canadian indie Nomadic Pictures, who alongside eOne, are also behind AMC's Hell On Wheels.

Star Trek is finally heading back to television. After months of rumours that CBS Television Studios has been quietly looking to develop a new Star Trek TV series, the studio has officially set Alex Kurtzman to shepherd and produce a new Trek TV series for CBS' on-demand platform CBS All Access, TVWise has learned.

Former US Senator, 2008 Presidential candidate and Law & Order star Fred Dalton Thompson has passed away after a recurrence of lymphoma. He was 73. “Fred was the same man on the floor of the Senate, the movie studio or the town square of Lawrenceburg, his home,” his family said in a statement.

‘Longmire’ Renewed For Fifth Season At Netflix

Netflix is returning to Absaroka County. A little over a month after the fourth season of Longmire was released on Netflix in the Unites States, the streaming service has picked up the Robert Taylor fronted drama for a fifth season. The renewal, which is expected to be for ten episodes, was first announced on the official Longmire Facebook page.

Elisabeth Röhm Joins TNT’s ‘The Last Ship’ In Recurring Role

Law & Order veteran Elisabeth Röhm has joined the cast of TNT's genre drama series The Last Ship in a recurring role for its thirteen episode third season, TVWise has learned. She will recur on The Last Ship as Allison Shaw, the newly appointed White House Chief Of Staff, serving under President of the United State Jeff Michener (Mark Moses, Homeland).
