‘Nashville’ Nears Fifth Season Pick Up At CMT
Nashville is on the verge of making a comeback. Series producer Lionsgate Television is deep in talks with country themed cable network CMT to bring the series back for a fifth season, TVWise has confirmed. A formal announcement is expected to be made tomorrow, during the CMT Awards. 
Netflix has found their Girlboss. Britt Robertson has been tapped to play the lead in the 13 episode comedy series which is based on the NY Times best-selling book by Nasty Gal founder Sophia Amoruso, TVWise has learned.
Sony Pictures Television has acquired a minority stake in Blueprint Television, the TV division of Blueprint Films that was recently set up by Co-Chairmen Pete Czernin, Graham Broadbent and Managing Director Diarmuid McKeown, TVWise has learned. The indie has also announced the hire of former EastEnders showrunner Dominic Treadwell-Collins as their Head of Television.
Prolific producer Frank Spotnitz is getting another series on-air. CBS has given the green-light to Ransom, a thirteen episode thriller series starring Luke Roberts (Game Of Thrones) which hails from Spotnitz, his indie Big Light Production and David Vainola, TVWise has learned.
HBO has released the trailer for Vice Principals, their upcoming comedy series starring Danny McBride (Eastbound & Down) and Walton Goggins (Justified), which is set to premiere on Sunday July 17th at 10:30/9:30c.
Spectre star Monica Bellucci has booked a guest starring role on the upcoming third season of Amazon's drama series Mozart In The Jungle, TVWise has learned. Bellucci will play Alessandra, an iconic opera star who will become Rodrigo's (Gael Garcia Bernal) next great collaborator. She is as famous for her passionate performances as she is for her erratic life off the stage. After years away from the spotlight, she enlists Rodrigo to conduct her grand return performance.
HBO is adding to their comedy slate. The premium cable network has picked up Barry, their hitman comedy project from Bill Hader, to series with a ten episode order, TVWise has confirmed.
Mere days ahead of the second season premiere, Lifetime has renewed their scripted drama series UnReal for a third season, TVWise has learned. Ten episodes have been ordered for the show's third season, which is expected to premiere in 2017.
