Channel 4’s ‘Indian Summers’ Renewed For Second Season

Channel 4 is returning to India. The broadcaster has renewed their hit period drama Indian Summers, starring Julie Walters and Craig Parkinson, for a 10 episode second season set to air in 2016, TVWise has learned.

Veteran Hollywood actor Leonard Nimoy has passed away at the age of 83. The iconic actor, well known and universally praised for his role as Spock in the Star Trek franchise, died earlier today in his Bel Air home from end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, according to The New York Times, quoting Leonard Nimoy's wife Susan Bay Nimoy.

FX has set the cast for The Bastard Executioner, their hour-long drama pilot from Sons Of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter. Danny Sapani (Penny Dreadful), Kurt Sutter (Sons Of Anarchy), Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy), Stephen Moyer (True Blood), Sam Spruell (Snow White And The Huntsman), Darren Evans (Galavant), Timothy V. Murphy (The Lone Ranger), Sarah White, Flora Spencer-Longhurst, Sarah Sweeny and newcomer Lee Jones have joined the project as series regulars, TVWise has learned.

After a recent spate of cancellations, TBS is picking up one of their comedy pilots to series. The Turner owned cable network has handed out a 10 episode series order to an as-yet untitled comedy from The Daily Show writers Jason Jones and Samantha Bee, TVWise has learned.

Ovation Takes US Rights To ITV Daytime Series ’60 Minute Makeover’

Arts focussed network Ovation has acquired the US broadcast right to the daytime home makeover series after agreeing a deal with ITV's sister company ITV Studios Global Entertainment, TVWise has learned. The package covers some 40 episodes of the series, which will premiere on Ovation on Tuesday March 10th.

The BBC has rounded out the cast of their "epic" War & Peace adaptation from Mr Selfridge scribe Andrew Davies and director Tom Harper. Gillian Anderson (The Fall, The X-Files), Jim Broadbent (The Great Train Robbery) and Rebecca Front (The Thick of It) are amongst the latest cast addition to the six-part drama, which is set up at BBC Cymru Wales, Lookout Point, BBC Worldwide and Harvey Weinstein's The Weinstein Company.

Oliver Platt To Star In NBC’s ‘Chicago Fire’ Spin-Off ‘Chicago Med’

Oliver Platt (The West Wing, Fargo) has been tapped for a co-starring role as Head of Psychiatry Dr Daniel Charles on the proposed Chicago Fire spin-off, which is being piloted as a planted episode (or backdoor pilot) of Chicago Fire. He joins a cast which includes S. Epatha Merkeson (Law & Order), Laure Holden (The Walking Dead, Major Crimes) and Yaya DaCosta (Whitney).
