FremantleMedia International Takes Distribution Rights To ‘The Young Pope’

FremantleMedia InternationalFremantleMedia International (FMI) has secured the international distribution rights to the recently green-lit eight episode papal miniseries The Young Pope, starring Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes, Spy). FMI will handle distribution in all territories except the US, France, the UK, Ireland, Italy and Germany, where co-production partners HBO, Canal+ and Sky control the rights.

Netflix’s ‘Grace & Frankie’ Renewed For Second Season

NetflixMere weeks after the show kicked off its first season, Netflix has renewed their Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin fronted comedy series Grace & Frankie for a 13 episode second season. Production gets underway later this year for a 2016 premiere.

While all eyes are inevitably on the slate of new series that will comprise the 2015 – 2016 broadcast season, several UK broadcasters are turning their attention back to the 2014-2015 season, looking to snap up a number of gems they missed or initially passed on acquiring after last year’s LA Screenings. Talks are now underway between UK broadcasters and the studios to secure the UK rights to Marvel's Agent Carter, iZombie, Black-ish, Fresh Off The Boat and Galavant.

William Shatner Lands Guest Role On ‘Murdoch Mysteries’

William ShatnerWilliam Shatner has been tapped for a guest starring role on the CBC/UKTV co-production Murdoch Mysteries for its upcoming 18 episode ninth season, which is now in production in Canada for an Autumn 2015 premiere on CBC and a 2016 premiere on UKTV's Alibi channel.
