Comedy Central UK Acquires ‘The Daily Show With Trevor Noah’

Trevor NoahComedy Central UK is bringing back The Daily Show. After quietly dropping The Daily Show With Jon Stewart earlier this year, the Viacom International Media Networks backed channel has acquired the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to the new series of the show, fronted by comedian Trevor Noah.

BBC One has set the cast for The Secret Agent. Toby Jones (Wayward Pines), Vicky McClure (Line Of Duty), Stephen Graham (Boardwalk Empire) and Ian Hart (The Driver) have been set as the leads in the thee-part drama, which hails from Line Of Duty indie World Productions and is based on the Joseph Conrad novel of the same name.

‘Poldark’ Season 2 Extended To 10 Episodes; John Nettles, Gabriella Wilde & Hugh Skinner Join Cast

The BBC is extending the run of Poldark. BBC One has increased the order for the show's second season to ten episodes, two episodes more than the show's first season, which consisted of eight episodes. Alongside the extended episode order, the BBC and series producer Mammoth Screen have also added to the cast of the ratings juggernaut, with John Nettles, Gabriella Wilde and Hugh Skinner boarding Poldark for its second season.

The BBC's flagship drama channel has given the green-light to Reg, a one-off drama from Jimmy McGovern which tells the story of the man who attempted to unseat Prime Minister Tony Blair from his parliamentary seat in Sedgefield in 2005. Tim Roth (The Hateful Eight) and Anna Maxwell Martin (Death Comes To Pemberley).

Andrew Baker Joins Drive As Non-Executive Director

Andrew BakerFormer Granada Television and ITV exec Andrew Baker has joined co-production and deficit financing company Drive as a non-executive director, TVWise has learned. Drive was Founded in 2013 by Ben Barrett and Lilla Hurst to facilitate the production funding process by providing consultancy services and sourcing finance for TV projects. Baker's role as non-exec director will see him work closely with both execs, advising on a range of strategic and commercial objectives and opportunities.
